New Less Than Forever Band

November 20th, 2007

I am in the middle of designing a logo and website for a new local band called “Less Than Forever.” They play Christian, Punk, Acoustic. I really think they could be the next big thing in Christian music. So far we got their myspace up and a logo mockup made.

Guidetofreestuff.org & Inspirationalsounds.net

November 6th, 2007

Well, I did it. It is almost 3:30AM, but when I get going on something I just have to finish. I finished working on www.inspirationalsounds.net and got it uploaded; it is now live. Also, I designed this website all tonight for a client, www.guidetofreestuff.org. I am really happy with how both designs turned out. They should add a nice section to my portfolio. Phew, now time to go to bed! Got work at 8AM.

Surviving…

October 31st, 2007

I am managing to survive after pulling the all nighter this previous Monday. I did manage to get a lot of work done with a some projects that I have been trying to get to for some time (including the new design for Inspirational Sounds which you can preview here). My next little project here is to do a complete overhaul and re-design of ops.wallawalla.edu. My goal is to get all of my websites that i have worked on re-designed and worthy to be a part of my portfolio. Here is a short list of some recent websites I have designed…

– HighWire PCs (www.highwirepcs.com)
– “The Daily Blog of an IT Enthusiast”, Brian Lee Jackson (www.brianleejackson.com)
– Ron Ostrander for La Center City Council (www.voteostrander.com)
– Walla Walla University, Omicron Pi Sigma Dormitory Club (ops.wallawalla.edu)
– Woodland Seventh-Day Adventist Church (www.woodlandsda.com)
– Inspirational Sounds (www.inspirationalsounds.net)

I will be getting a portfolio page up here soon.

Web Re-Design in Progress…

October 30th, 2007

I am currently working on re-designing www.inspirationalsounds.net for a friend of mine, Trevor Loucks, who basically is a musical genius. Ever since I remember he has been playing piano. He now has a video and CD out and even played with DINO and was in charge of an entire orchestra. I now look back at the current site and pretty much cannot stand how it looks lol. But that is usually how a designer thinks. I always think there can be improvements made to anything. To a designer, NOTHING IS EVER PERFECT. You can view the new progress of the site at HERE. I just designed the logo earlier this evening and I was very satisfied with what I came up with. It is now 4:25AM though and no time to sleep :). Must keep working. Until my next blog…

Should Christians go to the movies?

October 29th, 2007

The question that has always been asked and contemplated. Should Christians go to the movies? And if so, what movies are considered ok for them to watch? This is really all a matter of personal opinion and choice. Each individual must make their own choice based on what they believe. I myself am a proud Seventh-day Adventist and always have been. I was raised in a Christian home and therefore I was restricted at a young age as to what I was allowed to watch. Looking back on this I am very glad and appreciative of my parents for “sheltering me” in a sense, or rather “protecting me” from all of the filth out there. And yes, there is so much junk in today’s movies that it is hard to know what is right and wrong anymore. I myself now enjoy a good horror flick now and then mainly because it gets my adrenaline going and it’s always fun to be scared :). I watch South Park, Family Guy, and other TV shows that most Christians probably don’t watch. I do recommend not letting your children watch South Park or Family Guy as it does have a lot of language and I think it is better suited for young adults. The question is, how does this affect us? It is true and has been proven that everything we put into our minds does affect us. We never truly forget anything we watch, the images, language, etc. is all flayed upon us for good. I think the bigger issue is, not whether a Christian should not go to a movie or not but rather, is that person going for the right reasons? Do they know that it is simply a means of entertainment and that they enter the theater with confidence that their beliefs or ideals will not be influenced by what some director has managed to creatively put up on the screen? Back when “The Da Vinci Code” came out there was a lot of talk about whether this truly did happen and what was real or fiction. We have to realize, that no matter what we see on the screen that our beliefs should not be altered. I believe in a one and only true God who loves me and is coming back one day to take us home. I received an email earlier this week about the new movie starring Nicole Kidman that is coming out in December called The Golden Compass. Some people are saying that this movie is a danger to Christianity, that it is based on the books about killing Christ and is “Anti-Narnia”. Now, I don’t know where they can come off saying that when they have not even seen the movie yet. I did watch the trailer for the film myself and it simply looked like another children’s fantasy tale movie. I think some Christians read too deep into things. I mean, if you look hard enough you can always find the bad in the something. Sadly, we live in a sinful world, but does going to the movies condemn us? This is not something anyone can answer, it is an answer that each individual must come to a conclusion to on their own.

Youtube partnership with Google Adsense

October 28th, 2007

Youtube recently made a partnership with Google Adsense to generate youtube videos for a profit. Just like Adsense, they can target your website’s data and generate videos based on what your website is about. You can also choose categories or keywords by which videos would play.
